As a proud sailors daughter, I am drawn to all things ocean…and am sooo very excited.. the Greater Cleveland Aquarium opens TODAY!

Ohio’s only freestanding aquarium, it features hundreds of tropical ocean creatures (shark tunnel anyone?), as well as freshwater species native to Ohio and other inland waterways. I could, (and plan to) spend hours watching sea creatures flit about, I love the soft blue glow and the absolute peacefulness of it all.

be still my heart. I am certainly in good company in adoring Wes Anderson. The color alone in his films always floors me, not to mention the soundtracks, the casting, the sets…. ok, ok.  Needless to say I’ve been quasi patiently waiting to catch the trailer for his new film, Moonrise Kingdom- finally stumbled upon it today. So upon receiving a much coveted piece of cookware over the holidays ( A beautiful Le Creuset French Oval Oven in fennel green to be precise..) It has come to my attention that while lovely, and certainly well stocked,  my kitchen is not quite up to par with its latest inhabitant. So a redo it is!! It’s happening again friends!!! Room Service is thrilled to be bringing THE MADE IN THE 216 HOLIDAY SHOPPE home to the OHC this season, OPENING TOMORROW!!!

Held within Room Service at 2078 W. 25th St in Ohio City, this years HOLIDAY SHOPPE features over 60 Cleveland based artists and designers…everything from t-shirts, jewelry, art, candles, home goods, kids….a smorgasbord of locally made goodies!! Doors open at 10am, and we’ll be taking it up a notch at 4 pm with DJ Peter Pleasurecruise and kegs o’ beer provided by our fabulous OHC neighbor MARKET GARDEN BREWERY!!

Come celebrate the incredible talent found right here in our beautiful city- and shop local!! And have no fear, the THE HOLIDAY SHOPPE will be open 7 days a week through Christmas Eve!

This just does it for me on so many levels.. artist Gwen Samuels makes these incredible pieces with digital images printed on transparencies, and then hand stitches them. I love their ephemeral air, (and isn’t fashion anyway?..) the incredible patterns, symmetry and depth. Just lovely.
