ANTHRO GOES TO THE CIRCUS…

And I would like to join them…seriously, i really cannot bare ohio in February.  I know its trite to complain about the weather, but its not just the weather, its the overall dreariness of the season, the quietness around the shop, the havoc the season wreaks on my skin and hair!  I just happen to be one of those people who loves the HOT HOT HEAT and prefer everything about that time of year over this time of year.

So, I can’t really leave to join the circus, but I do have a few tricks I employ to keep me sane this time of year…For instance, I made a note to myself last year, that i need to go somewhere warm and sunny in March because every year by March I have reached my limit.  So this year I am going to the Caribbean in March, So all I have to do is make it until March 14th and one trick to keeping sane is to fantasize about my island wardrobe….Now it is a big family trip on a cruise.  I have NEVER fantasized about going on a Cruise before, but by now i am convinced it will be JUST what the doctor ordered.   and I do believe there is a thing or two from this catalog that will have to come with me…like the dress below and these amazing red and white striped booties:

I was paging through old LUCKY magazines, (preparing them for the recycling bin as I am packing to move, the only time i ever get rid of magazines)…

well, as I am flipping through the SHOPPING TRIP section, which in March 2009’s issue, was all about PARIS, I discovered a store in the 2nd Arrondissement named ROOM SERVICE! The magazine did not offer a website, but upon my first attempt (roomservice.fr) I found it!  Much to my surprise it was a vintage apparel shop!  A VERY LOVELY AND AMAZING VINTAGE APPAREL SHOP THAT I AM KICKING MYSELF FOR MISSING LAST YEAR WHILE I WAS IN PARIS. (was this all one big run-on sentence?  probably.)

yeah, i suppose that is what this could be reduced to, however, sometimes, it’s nice just to appreciate beauty in it’s most obvious form.

When I was in NY for the gift show I stumbled upon a vendor from Seattle (more to come on them later) who upon reading my badge declared “Room Service!?  I read your blog!!”  - I was so thrilled to discover that people other than my family and friends read this, anyhow…she then followed that with…”You love Cleveland, right?!”  and i was like…uh, yeah, I suppose you do have the right person then, I didn’t realize how little I hid that fact!

Well, she was right, i do, and these two new shirts in both mens and women’s sizes, from the amazing, Ohio-based HOMAGE CLOTHING have just arrived at ROOM SERVICE!

I know.  I feel funny admitting it.  I have resisted for kind of awhile.  But I saw these on a teenager…in France, and couldn’t believe how much I wanted them (the shoes, not the teenager).  I mean, I have retired my dr.martens well over a decade ago, could i really be, in my 30’s, desiring the shoes of my youth?  Am I being ridiculous?  OR would I be totally accurate to think that these shoes with baggy boyfriend jeans and a white v-neck would be totally cute?  (i did just say “totally”) does that help me justify this purchase?
