i think if i could actually find 30 minutes to relax i would make myself one of those construction paper chains, where each day as you run off to school (in my case work) i would tear off a chain until one day there were no more chains to tear and that would mean (as a kid it meant CHRSITMAS!) but for me as an adult it means The CARIBBEAN!!!! sunshine, relaxation, great excuse for seriously not having to check voice mails, reply to emails, make or cancel appointments, do any bookkeeping. god. i have never needed a break like i do right now.
So i will allow myself a little time each day to daydream about some of the places I will be headed next month….I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

ANTHRO GOES TO THE CIRCUS…
And I would like to join them…seriously, i really cannot bare ohio in February. I know its trite to complain about the weather, but its not just the weather, its the overall dreariness of the season, the quietness around the shop, the havoc the season wreaks on my skin and hair! I just happen to be one of those people who loves the HOT HOT HEAT and prefer everything about that time of year over this time of year.
So, I can’t really leave to join the circus, but I do have a few tricks I employ to keep me sane this time of year…For instance, I made a note to myself last year, that i need to go somewhere warm and sunny in March because every year by March I have reached my limit. So this year I am going to the Caribbean in March, So all I have to do is make it until March 14th and one trick to keeping sane is to fantasize about my island wardrobe….Now it is a big family trip on a cruise. I have NEVER fantasized about going on a Cruise before, but by now i am convinced it will be JUST what the doctor ordered. and I do believe there is a thing or two from this catalog that will have to come with me…like the dress below and these amazing red and white striped booties:

So, my lovely friend Rachel recently engaged to equally lovely Ajay are going to India, where Ajay is from, to celebrate their nuptials with his family in January.
At their engagement party they casually said…”you should come!”….What I do not know if they realize or not, is that I TOTALLY will! I have been planning a trip to Italy in January anyway, but it is not everyday you can visit a country as fascinating as India, WITH someone who is from there and can provide a more depth-y experience!
I really like them as a couple, Rachel has had a smile plastered on her face since meeting him, and this puts a smile on my face as well, so I am going to consider this and if they really will let me tag along…I just might..
SOOOOOOOOO, what does this mean for my blog? It means, that my trip inspiration posts are going to start including posts on India, in addition to Italy.
Yay!

My dear friend Ted had spent a year living in Italy, so I was able to coerce him into digging up a few inspiring pics for me to post here, as i allow myself to soak up as much inspiration as i can find on cities on my winter trip itinerary….which, at this point is looking to be Barcelona, to the French Riviera and then along the Italian coast ending in either Rome or the Amalfi Coast….

Florence at night !!! by Ted.

Kind of an AWESOME AWESOME photo of the Spanish Steps in ROME

I want to go back to Europe. I thought for sure that I would never want to go anywhere but Paris for the rest of my life, but after watching the movie “In Bruge” last night and then promptly traveling to Bruge via my dreams all last night, I have awoken with a nagging desire to get myself over to Belgium, STAT!

This is my Bon Voyage post for my friends Stephanie (of this fine blog) and her husband Sean. They are leaving for a vacation in Paris and as I never wanted to return from Paris, I have considered any number of ways of sneaking over in the luggage, or perhaps putting on a man’s red wig and stuffing sean in a closet and going in his place? would that be weird?

Lately, I have been doing all kinds of crazy things to trick myself into feeling spring. Ohio can be brutal this time of year, and it’s all I can do to maintain some level of sanity when faced, day after day, with gray, cold, messy, dreary days. Recently I have done this, this and this to try to combat the winter blues….if I could, I would add a visit here to the list as well…doesn’t this look so dreamy?!?!?

FOLLOWING TEXT FROM HERE:
Falling Garden
San Staë church on the Canale Grande
50th Biennial of Venice, 2003
The Doge (Mocenigo) needed a church so as to be able to have a monumental tomb built for himself, the church (San Staë) needed a saint so as to be able to be built, the saint (San Eustachio) needed a miracle so as to be pronounced a saint, the miracle needed a stag in order to be seen, and we built the garden for the reindeer.
The visitors lie on the bed above the doge’s gravestone, and the garden thinks for them.
